Replacing carpet between tenants can be a significant expense, especially when a property has multiple units to maintain. Sometimes, though, carpet that looks ready to come out still has more life left in it.
That was the situation at an apartment complex on Madison’s far east side. PureSteam has cleaned units for this property for more than 10 years, and the management company called us again while getting one apartment ready for its next tenant. This time, they were considering replacing the carpet altogether but wanted to see what professional cleaning could do first.
Giving the Existing Carpet Another Chance
Carpet can start to look worn after a tenant moves out, especially when dirt settles into the fibers over time. That appearance does not always tell the whole story. Before paying for removal and new carpet, this property decided it was worth having us clean the existing floor and see how it responded.
We steam-cleaned carpet throughout the unit, working across the surface to remove the buildup that was affecting its appearance. As the cleaning progressed, the difference became clear. The carpet looked noticeably better, and the property manager was happy enough with the result that replacement was no longer necessary.
For a longtime customer, it was a good example of why they continue to call PureSteam when another apartment needs attention.
A Better Outcome for the Next Turnover
Apartment turnovers usually come with a long list of things that need to be handled before the next resident moves in. Carpet can be one of the bigger decisions because replacing it adds material, labor, and time to the process.
In this unit, professional carpet cleaning gave the property another option. Rather than assuming the existing carpet had reached the end of its useful life, they were able to clean it first and make that decision based on the results. In this case, the cleaning was enough to keep the carpet in place and avoid the cost of installing new flooring.
